virtual decorating
I love the holiday season. One of my absolute favorite things to do is decorate for Christmas. It always used to be a whole-family event when I lived with my parents. We would spend a couple hours cleaning and getting everything ready, then we pulled out all the decorations and turned the living room into a Christmas wonderland, complete with nativity scene, lighted village and of course a tree. This holiday season, our stuff is all in boxes, including a beautiful nativity scene, which I had to leave here when we moved to Stillwater, so it hasn't been put out since Christmas of '05. I love the feeling of sitting on the couch with a warm cup of chai or apple cider, just looking at my decorations or reading a book. It's so relaxing. So peaceful. Jordan says there's a word in German that we don't have in English that describes this feeling of satisfaction and contentment. If I remembered it, or spoke German, I'd share it. But, I don't and I don't. Anyway, since I don't have my own home to decorate, and probably won't by Christmas, I'll settle for a little virtual sprucing up of my blog. I hope you enjoy the holidays as much as I do. Tinsel or no, it will still be great to spend time with our family.
