In April, two friends (Melissa & Kelsey) and I are doing a triathlon in Claremore, Okla. After deciding we wanted to do it, Kelsey and I spent several weeks shopping for bikes. I ended up with a Giant FCR3w, and I love it. Although Melissa and I worked out together regularly last semester, my discipline dwindled over Christmas break. So, after a moderate ride and a very short run on Saturday, I am struggling to walk today. We all are planning our workout schedules for the next few months, and hopefully we will be able to bike 2 or 3 times, run at least that much and swim once or twice/week. At least we have a nice indoor pool at the campus rec center.
I am excited about this challenge. I did a triathlon two summers ago, just before moving to Oklahoma, but I wasn't very well prepared. So, this time, hopefully I will be in better shape and more mentally ready.
I am glad I have two very dedicated partners in this venture. I actually look forward to our workouts, because the girls are so fun to spend time with.
And ... it helps that the temperature in Stillwater yesterday was 76 deg. Though that won't last.
Check back periodically for training updates and probably some funny stories about bike crashes, leg cramps and water up the nose.

isn't it funny how quickly you can fall out of shape - even over a short time span? i went walking yesterday at the lake. we were going slow so i thought i could do 2 miles (as compared to my quick 1 mile pregnant walk)...uh, i was in major pain last nite! haha
good luck training! the good thing is that once you start working out again it doesn't take your body too long to jump back into it!
