Utah -- who knew?

Maybe some people knew Utah was so cool, but not me! More pictures to come, but this was one sweet stop. It's the largest open-pit mine in the world. They're diggin' for copper. It's nearly 3/4 mi deep and 2 mi wide, if I remember the stats correctly. Weird, wild stuff. It's just outside Salt Lake City -- Bingham Canyon Mine. If you're in the area, it's worth the slight detour and $5 fee (which apparently is donated to charities).

My dad would be impressed with the tires. Can't wait to see more pics from your trip.
