Thanks to my friend Kelsey's recommendation, we stopped at her family's ranch in Yeso, New Mexico, on the way from Stillwater to Oregon. As her sister said to her mom -- that's not on the way to Oregon! We figured it was a good excuse for a detour. And we were right. It was a highlight of the six-day trip. On the way to their ranch we stopped at the grave site of Billy the Kid in Ft. Sumner. They had paintings of some famous wild-westerners, too. At the Overton's, we spent a lot of time visiting with her parents, Beverly and Charlie; toured their beautiful ranch; watched the neighbors work their calves; found cool rocks; and cooked dinner over a campfire on a mesa on their ranch. Oh, and we swam in their "ranch-style pool" (at least that's what they call it). We had an awesome time and can't wait to go back again -- hopefully sometime we can meet up with Kelsey and her husband Ryan there (they live in Stillwater). branding calves jordan on the ranch Charlie roping calves preparing the chute & corral to work their calves me and the doc
